Resources: Employement Assistance

Emloyement assistance by TH&WC

Discrimination is a major contributor to the high rates of unemployment faced by transgender people in this nation. In 2015, the Inland Empire’s
Transgender Health & Wellness Survey found that when it came to TGI people, higher levels of education did not translate to higher levels of employment.
Only 18.9% of Trans respondents were employed full-time, whereas 52.6% of all Inland Empire adults had full-time employment (CHIS, 2014). 15.6% of respondents attributed their Transgender status to being unemployed. The Transgender Health and Wellness Center helps working TGI people acquire and to remain employed during their transition and thereafter. We work closely with businesses, offering sensitivity training and educational programs to encourage economic integration.

We will be happy help you to find a job

The Center combats workplace discrimination by providing information about the law. We work to improve the local, city, county, state, and federal laws that affect Transgender people’s ability to integrate into the workforce. We develop partnerships and relationships with businesses that are willing to hire Transgender people and give them the same opportunities as others. In 2014, unemployment was very high within Southern California’s TGI community. But by January 2016, there are a lot fewer who are looking for employment. TGI people still face one of the highest (often double) unemployment rates compared to other marginalized groups; but we are making a difference. We continue to work closely to empower the local community and connect them with employment opportunities.
