Enhance allyship and clinical competency
We are excited to announce that mental health professionals and social service providers have the opportunity to enhance their skillset by attending trainings by Van Ethan Levy (they | elle), LMFT 118131 & LPCC 8269, who is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for California LMFTs, LPCCs, LCSWs, and LEPs. With a range of courses available, the trainings are designed to foster allyship while increasing our collective capacity in providing excellent care for trans, non binary and many more non cis individuals.
The trainings focus on clinical, ethical and cultural competency in order to best serve people of all identities/expressions. From workshops on the basics of affirming care to more advanced sessions for those looking to further their qualifications, the training programs are accessible and tailored to meet the range of needs and experiences of therapists, social workers, and counselors who work with trans, non binary and many more non cis clients.

Learn from Mx. Van Ethan Levy (they | Elle), a leader in LGBTQ+ mental Wellness
Van Ethan Levy (they | elle), LMFT 118131 & LPCC 8269 is a queer, trans, non-binary, socialized as female, person of color, who is autistic and has dynamic disabilities. Van has an MA in Clinical Psychology and is dually licensed, LPCC & LMFT and started in their private practice 2020. Van has been an advocate, educator, and activist for the trans community since 2000. Van has developed their own curriculum for and/or taught at North Orange County Education, Antioch University and MiraCosta College. Van provides consultation, trainings, education and therapy all over California. Van is also a published author Exploring My Identity(ies), which is an interactive book designed for all people and ages to explore their identities and create safer spaces for themselves and others. They have also developed an app called “No More Gatekeeping” which offers trauma informed questions and generates a letter for individuals needing medical care, personalized letters that help to affirm one’s own body.
Furthermore, they organized and hosted the world’s first virtual conference focusing on trans and non-binary individuals, ensuring that every participant was compensated. They diligently vet and organize therapists on the national providers list who are willing to conduct letter and assessment sessions in one session called “No More Gatekeeping.” Additionally, they have received awards for their documentary “Do Something: Trans & Non Binary Identity(ies)” and continue to prioritize accessibility for our community
Van is passionate about helping people on their journey to discovering and understanding their identities. Through individual and group counseling, they aim to create a safer environment that allows each person to explore their personal identity, as well as the intersections of their various identities. They strive to provide an inclusive space where individuals can better understand themselves and celebrate who they are. Van also offers workshops and courses that provide support for individuals on their journey of self-discovery.
Van’s book, Exploring My Identity(ies), is an interactive workbook designed to lead users through a series of thought-provoking questions and activities that help them make sense of the multiple identities they have. Through this engaging resource, readers can discover how interactive book is created to assist you in learning more about yourself, and unlearning the harmful messages you have received and continue to receive. It is vital to learn to hold spaces for ourselves that are safer and affirming while creating those same spaces for others.
Assessment & Letter Writing
Program Description:
This workshop equips mental health professionals with the necessary tools to transform the lives of their trans, non binary, non conforming and many more non cis clients in just one session! Our approach is trauma-informed and provides a safe space for exploration and affirmation, while helping you identify and eliminate your own biases. You will leave with practical knowledge and tools to assess and write letters for your clients, including those related to surgery, hormones, name/gender marker changes and more. Trauma Therapy
Program Description:
This course provides a comprehensive overview of trauma therapy, with an emphasis on supporting trans individuals. Participants will gain key insights into the socio-cultural context of trauma, and learn how to create an affirming and safer environment for those dealing with traumatic experiences. The course
will cover topics such as understanding the unique needs of trans clients, working with gender and/or identity based oppression, and best practices for creating a trauma informed therapy setting.
Harm Reduction
Program Description
This course is designed to provide people with an overview of harm reduction strategies. It will cover a variety of topics including the definition and principles of harm reduction, as well as the social and ethical considerations surrounding its use. Participants will learn about commonly used harm reduction approaches such as navigating wellness with self-harm. The course will also cover the importance of working with individuals to create tailored interventions that meet their specific needs. Finally, participants will be able to identify the resources needed for successful implementation of harm reduction strategies in clinical practice. By the end of the course, mental health providers will have a comprehensive understanding of harm reduction and its implications for patient care.
Disability Justice
Program Description:
This course will provide mental health providers with an introduction to Disability Justice, a framework that values access, self-determination and an expectation of difference. The course will explore the history of disability oppression and how this has evolved into Disability Justice, which emphasizes recognizing people with disabilities as experts in their own bodies and lives, as well as the importance of systemic change and action for disabled people. We will discuss how traditional approaches to mental health can perpetuate oppressive dynamics, and how Disability Justice can offer a new framework for thinking about disability, mental health, and social structures. We will also explore the ways Disability Justice can inform our clinical practice, such as by valuing each client’s personal experience and expertise. Finally, the course will provide resources and tools for mental health providers to begin incorporating Disability Justice into their practice. By the end of this course, participants will have an understanding of Disability Justice and how to apply it in their clinical work.
Trans Identity & Neurodiversity
Program Description:
The course will provide participants with an introduction to trans identity and neurodiversity, including definitions and key concepts. It will also explore the challenges faced by trans people and those with neurodiverse conditions in society today, including issues around representation, access to healthcare, employment opportunities, and more. Participants will learn how to advocate for trans people and those with neurodiverse conditions as well as become more knowledgeable about their mental health needs. Finally, the course will provide concrete strategies to create inclusive and supportive environments for trans people and those with neurodiverse conditions in the workplaces, schools, and community
