Victoria Castro is a trans immigrant woman from Ahuachapán, El Salvador, a trans immigrant advocate, HIV/COVID testing counselor, PrEP/HIV trainer, and an exceptional professional makeup artist. She began her activism in her home country as a health educator, educating and empowering Salvadoran transgender people to have the tools to fight for their fundamental human rights. In 2017, she was released from the detention center where she arrived seeking asylum and moved to San Francisco, CA, where she continued working with a Latina trans organization for five more years as a health educator, program manager, and in other key roles. She is part of numerous national movements and campaigns for Latinx and immigrant trans and queer communities at the intersection of trans and queer rights, migrant and racial justice. She also worked on the national campaign Familia en el Sur, where she organized Latino organizations in the southern United States to connect resources for TLGBQIA+ migrants, and she also worked in Orange County, CA, to connect trans migrants with health resources and currently volunteers for many organizations because it is something she is passionate about, she is a student at San Diego City College and also leads T4T Empowerment.
