Title: Associate Mental Health Counselor or Practicum Student
Time: Flexible
Compensation: Group Clinical Supervision Hours & Certificate of Completion after minimum 1 year.
Commitment: Minimum 1 year.
Summary of Position: Under the clinical supervision of the Licensed Mental Health Counselor at The Transgender Health & Wellness Center, the Associate Mental Health Counselor/ Intern:
Provides students with mental health services focusing on information, resources, and support to ensure their personal and academic success
Provides short-term and trauma-informed assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, individual and/or group therapy, case management, crisis intervention, training, resource development, and other administrative duties as assigned, consistent with the training and experience of a masters-level clinician.
Assists clients in building the psychosocial skills using various evidence-based practices with an emphasis on clients impacted by complex needs (e.g. significant mental health symptoms, food insecurity, homelessness, financial difficulties, family challenges, alcohol and drug abuse, etc.).
Attends and actively participates in individual/ triadic/ group clinical supervision.
Maintains clinical documentation in a timely and ethical manner.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
Education, experience, and additional knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
Completion of an accredited Master’s degree program in Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Social Work, or equivalent field of study.
OR
Students currently enrolled in an accredited Master’s degree program with significant related experience.
Ability to complete all intern/ Associate Mental Health Counselor requirements for a minimum of 8 months.
Ability to handle highly confidential information including, but not limited to, records, reports, medical information, or other general and sensitive/confidential correspondence that relates to services provided.
Ability to demonstrate an awareness and appreciation of the cultural diversity of trans, non binary and many more LGBTQPIA+ identity(ie), an ability to self-reflect and to continuously examine own assumptions and microaggressions, and a commitment to deepen education and learning.
Ability to work on multiple projects at once while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to author reports and clinical documentation independently utilizing agency methods.
Access to stable internet and confidential space for supervision and telehealth client appointments.
Successful completion of the application, screening, and interview process.
Significant experience in working with trans identities, and family & community relations strongly preferred.
Lived experience & bilingual preferred.
