Our Financials
Our financials are kept here for review on the California Registry of Charitable Trust: State of California Registry of Charitable Trusts
One of the key purposes of the Transgender Health & Wellness Center is education and advocacy. With the growing problem of fake non-profits and scammers, the Center is endeavoring to educate the public on how to perform public due diligence. We do this to shore up the floundering trust of the public with legitimate non-profits. Here are a couple helpful tips:
In order to do business in the State of California, all non-profits must be registered with the California Secretary of State Charity of Trust. They are not to do business if not registered, suspended, or delinquent under California Law. Here’s the link:
Delinquency / State of California – Department of Justice – Office of the Attorney General
You can also verify the charities given IRS 501(c)(3) number here:
Tax Exempt Organization Search / Internal Revenue Service (irs.gov)
Here, you can verify if the name the organization is using is valid; and then inspect the non-profits tax records. This verification is used to confirm the validity of the non-profit and provide the public with its tax records as a public benefit corporation. Note that the IRS has no standard set of rules covering all states; as it empowers each state to make up its own laws and rules for non-profit to do business in its jurisdiction.
We hope this helps the public when weeding out scammers and those who target those with the generosity to help those in need.
