LASER HAIR REMOVAL PALM SPRINGS CA

Lasers are useful for removing unwanted hair from the body. Benefits of laser hair removal include:

Precision Lasers & electrolysis

Lasers are designed to target dark, coarse hairs while leaving the surrounding lighter hair undamaged.

Our Hair removal technicians are fast

Each laser machine has different speeds to meet the purpose of the machine which is to remove unwanted hair.  The laser can treat an area of approximately the six of a dime to a quarter at one time every second. Small areas such as the upper lip can be treated in less than a minute, and large areas such as the back or legs may take up to an hour.

Is Laser Hair Removal Permanent?

Lasers require more treatments over the quadrant of the area in less time but require three or more treatments to remove the unwanted hair.

How to Prepare for Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that requires training and medical education. The State of California only allows a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Medical Doctor to provide treatments. This is to ensure, that the patient has a medically qualified person that has been trained in the basic medical standards for patients. This degree’s in-licensing does not make them automatically qualified, further training and skill are necessary to prevent potential injury to the patient.

What to Expect During Laser Hair Removal

Just before the treatment, it is important to apply numbing cream to sensitive areas of the body if they are to be treated one hour before treatment.

What you need to know to Maximize Hair Removal Results

The laser hair removal machine is designed to be used on individuals with dark hair. The lighter the skin and darker the hair the more likely that the hair will not return. The darker the skin and the darker the hair, the lower the frequency, and more treatments are often required. The present technology used by laser hair removal machines is not effective on white, red, and blond hair and must resort to electrolysis for permanent removal.

One day of hair growth can improve the likelihood that the hair plexus will be damaged and destroyed.

Stimulants

The pulse light from the laser hair removal machine uses an intense pulse light, that penetrates the top layer of the skin and damages the root of the hair plexus. This damage to the hair plexus is then ejected by the skin by the body to protect the body from infection. The hair plexus has a specialized nerve receptor that can create stimulation and sensation during touching.

When a person is on stimulants prior to treatment it can make these specialized nerve receptors hyper-vigilant and increase the pain. This will make the patient’s treatment painful and discourage future treatments.  It is strongly encouraged not to use stimulants.

Sunscreen

It is important to protect the skin after treatment while the skin is rejuvenating after treatment. Avoid direct sun like gardening, beaches, sun tanning, hiking, and other high-level exposures to ultraviolet sun rays.  It can damage the skin and increase the likelihood of cancer.

ELECTROLYSIS

Electrolysis is a method of removing hairs individually from the face and body. An electrolysis technician must go to school and be licensed by the California Board of Cosmetology.  Electrolysis has a device with a small metal probe that is inserted down the shaft of the hair to the hair plexus where a small electrical current is used to destroy the hair. Thereafter, this individual hair is extracted from the body. Electrolysis can be used on any hair but is an extremely slow process.

Electrolysis Sessions

An electrolysis session can last up to two hours or more at a time for a small space the size of a nickel to a quarter at a time.

ELECTROLYSIS VS. LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Electrolysis began in 1875 and was invested by Dr. Charles Michel, a St. Louis ophthalmologist, who devised this system to remove his patient’s painful ingrown eyelashes. It has grown over time into a consumer trade to address needs for beautification. Gender Identity disorder first appeared as a diagnosis in the DSM-III (1980), where it appeared under “psychosexual disorders” but was used only for the childhood diagnosis. Over time, it began to be used for the treatment of gender dysphoria. Laser hair removal has been performed experimentally for about twenty years before becoming commercially available in 1995. As laser hair removal technology improves electrolysis often focuses on the hair that the laser hair removal machine cannot treat effectively.
